not technically in hampton roads, but close enough for a spur of the moment road trip.
a friend and i went to williamsburg to visit sno-to-go and decided our sole reason for the trip could not be a stuffed sno-cone (though they are quite yummy). we thought we’d get some education at jamestown, but neither of us wanted to pay the entrance fee. instead, we played in jamestown island.
be careful there, chiggers will attack you if you play in the trees. my suggestion is to bring an extra set of clothes to change into and wash yourself and the old clothes immediately. chiggers are no fun.

overall, excellent way to spend the day. we drove through, but we stopped at every sign and played. there were lots of fallen trees and stumps to climb, some paths through the woods and water. just check yourself for chiggers (ticks, etc) afterwards.
